Below are a few case studies, demonstrating web design features, solutions and innovative problem-solving.

Memories are made of these

Quelli Coles runs a successful pottery business in East Sussex, teaching all ages how to 'spin' and decorate a wide range of ceramic objects. She particularly liked running parties for children, but there was one major problem that we identified with this - the 'stickiness' of her business. A parent might like to have a pottery party for their child, but would not necessary find out about her services at the same time as, or around, their child's birthday.

Solution? A simple birthday reminder form. Users fill in the form, and they are automatically reminded of the opportunities for a pottery party nearer to the special day. It also offers Quelli a chance to make her business name more 'sticky' to her customers, and even encourages repeat business.

From idea to implementation

Texthunter was a simple idea that a client had one day and proposed to Making Soup. They wanted to offer a free service where users could paste in text found on the web, and see where else it appeared on the internet. With more and more sites (and students) plagiarising original work, this tool was designed to find the source of the text, fast. The concept was pitched, scripted and launched within a week. The result - an incredibly popular tool, used by students and academics the world over, and with an added benefit that it is also useful for tracking down songs when you only know a few of the lyrics!

Good iVibrations

Simon's site was needing a little pick-me-up, and at the same time, he wanted his DJ business to appeal to both couples about to be married, and the parents who were inevitably going to fund the big day! The site enjoyed a complete overhaul, with custom-made graphics and high-end art images, and has been bringing site visitors back again and again.

We also organised a campaign within Facebook, to allow Simon's customers to promote their event through his iVibeDJ profile.

They really are 'The Main Event'

Promoting a niche product is what the internet does best, and local company The Main Event wanted their site to genuinely live up to the 'Your Event is Our Reputation' tagline. Clean, simple site design, coupled with a great product and back catalogue of shots, make this one of the most popular and visited Marquee Hire companies in the south east. Added to this is a successful AdWords campaign during the high season of marquee bookings, making The Main Event's diary extend to 2011!
